Wow. Apparently, when you go for nearly five years without cable and get your news through the internet and print, you can, surprisingly, find yourself living under a rock. When the frack did Tim Allen become a Republican and when did a major network air television sitcom to the right? Hey, Im not complaining, diversity, I get it. For Hollywood, its All about the money! Yeah, we get it; we get it! Youre amazing in bed wearing gold cufflinks. But, seriously... WTF?! O.o I mean, have I just moved that far to the left or as I often feel, did the board up and move again when I wasnt looking? Damn, I feel like I am back in high school trying to hold dialogue between the idiot boxes on Tue left and on the right. NO! WE COULDNT POSSIBLY HAVE A CLUB DEDICATED TO BIPARTISANSHIP AND LEARNING AND SHARING DIVERSE OPINIONS IN A SAFE AND EQUITABLE FASHION AMONG PEERS WHERE WE HEAR MANY DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES AND SEE THEM PLAY OUT... Yeah, far to specialist of me... Ironic, given I was a Republican who voted for Bush... Yeah, shut up. I dont wanna hear it. Most Americans were clueless. Anyhow, my point is that I feel like Im crawling out from under a rock to discover that as I predicted Americans are as dumb as ever. Ideologically inept and incapable of diverse discourse. Each group isolated in their dogmatic fervor, fearful of change, and stigmatizing all those who appear to hold views from the other camp. God forbid someone perpetuate the crime of free-thought. Yes, that would be dangerous, indeed. I just dont really know how to respond. Im flabbergasted. I watch this new/old show of Allens in utter perplexity,incapable of fathoming the zeplin careening to its Hindenburg-esque end. When did we become incapable of seeing beyond our isolated mentalities? When did we suddenly become incapable of holding even the most basic discourse without vomiting meaningless diatribe about the incorruptibility of our own egos? On another note, given that I voted for a third party candidate for President, I just realized that I never watched the Presidential debates between Obama and Romney. This mindless, bloated nonsense (and I see it even out of Jon Stewart, so no one is free of the scourge) perplexes me. How can we survive as a nation, as a corpus politick of we are so decisive and incapable of complex dialog? Shall we all be enslaved by our idiot boxes? Shall we become the Brave New World of Huxley? I fear, perhaps, we may yet see that apocalyptic end come to pass in the days ahead.
