Wow. Crazy to think back on the impact he had on a generation of soccer fans starting back in 2002. A roller coaster career, with immense promise and success (still the only American to play in the Champions League Semifinals and our record goalscorer in the competition) offset by serious injury and a possible lack of humility/maturity, resurrected as a late career man of a million skills and the consummate teammate and leader who wore the USMNT armband when called on with grace and pride.
