Wow. I am pretty shaken and disturbed by an event. I was getting gas for the Mustang at the gas station on the corner of HWY 431 and 204. A young woman (blonde, well-groomed, appeared middle-class s/e status) pulled up to pump beside me, left her car running and an toddler in a rear carseat , and went inside. While she chatted it up with the station attendant, I finished fueling my car and “babysitting.” The young lady was in no hurry at all to get back to the car; in fact, I pumped almost $40 of gas while she was in the store. No way was I leaving until she returned. I was finished and replacing the gas cap when she finally returned to the toddler in the running car by the gas pump. Me: “Ma’am, did you leave your child in a running and unlocked vehicle while you were in the store?” She (very politely): “I did.” Me: “That is an unsafe practice. Someone could have stolen your vehicle and kidnaped your child.” She didn’t say anything. I hope she never does that again.
