Wow! I am truly shocked to read this today. Lisa Amato Formato was the writer of one of the first melanoma blogs I began reading when Steven Martin was first diagnosed. Lisa didnt actively engage with the melanoma community, so many of you may not know her story. Lisa Amato Formato took a holistic approach to melanoma treatment. She did not want to poison her body with chemos, so she juiced, kept her bodys PH levels right, got oxygen treatments, etc. She traveled the world receiving non traditional treatments. Lisa even attempted removing a tumor under her arm herself using black salve!!! Although I didnt agree with her non traditional approach, I was amazed at her drive to live and bravery while fighting non traditionally. I have so much respect for Lisa. There are no words to tell you how incredible she was and how relentless her fighting spirit endured. She fought to the end and did it with such grace and dignity for a person, or any person, could ever imagine. Saying that she was a warrior is an understatement; thats because she was one of a kind. I know for me and many others, we will never cross paths with a person of Lisas abilities. And through all she dealt with, that famous Lisa smile never let up. Shes loves you all, and she will forever be on our sides when things get difficult; this is what she provided us with: STRENGTH! No matter what youre going through, just like Li, we will preserve.
