Wow!! I had the honor of giving a workshop today for the Teen Summit for the Compton Community. My topic was about Social Media and I had 4 young kids in my class. They are all smart and they know their stuff, let me tell you. I was very emotional, sad and angry today, This event just opened my eyes about life more and that we should all be blessed. These kids have nothing I mean nothing. One girl wanted to kill herself because of cyber-bullying, the other told me parents dont care what we do in everyday life. She said they are never there! One young speaker was going to talk about Bullying and told me this. I would love to have a basketball team and play on the weekends, but where? It goes on and on. Bottom line for my posting is this: Be grateful what you have I so mean it. These kids and many more out there have absolutely nothing. Having designer clothes, purse or a car does not make it YOU!! These kids in my class wanted love, attention and affection. They let out their feelings without even me saying anything. Where will this end? Will it end?JanessaDanyelle Evans thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to share my thoughts and experience as a planner. I suggest that events such as this should be a three day workshop so they can actually learn something and take it with them. This was one amazing day for me. Happy that I was part of such an important event for the community and sad that there is no way out in this. These kids need mentors that can guide them through life and show them what is right or wrong. Parents be there for your kids at all times please. Know what they are doing and where they are. They should be a strict limit of usage of social media for kids, my opinion. This is where it all starts with bullying and cyber-bullying. WOW does not even cover what I saw today. Instead of going to other countries and saying bad things about their life-style and how they do things. Please look at our own cities?? So many issues where does one begin. Anita Danelian thank you for coming out and being a vendor. I am out of words of seeing these kids hungry for everything.
