Wow. Noah. First impressions, hoping not to give any spoilers: - The themes unearthed were complex and deep, some even disturbing, but when you really take it in, you understand that they are extremely true and humbling. - I know the bible well. Some literary freedom was pushed in the movies interpretation, but in my mind I kept thinking, Yeah, that works. Thats biblical, I can see that it could have happened this way. - The suspense...wow. I rolled with the Middle Earth cinematic drama. It made sense and was quite exciting. You can get bent about the rock monsters, but the movie explains its biblical roots. I re-read Gen6, and the interpretation is very interesting and I rolled with it. - Ken Ham should be proud of this film. I suspect he may be threatened. The animals actually do walk in two-by-two. The pre-flood world was very different than ours, not assuming things were the same as now, just like AiG keeps trying to persuade people to believe (like Bill Nye). Whats not to like? - The subplot of Tubal-Cain was fascinating. He was the perfect antagonist, verbally explaining exactly what was wrong with mankind. Poachers, thieves, murderers, rapists...incredible evil...likely tamer than the biblical reality. No wonder the Creator wanted them destroyed. - Noahs personal conflict between justice and love...that summed up the whole story of Creation, didnt it? When love overcame and mankind was allowed to triumph, I was moved to tears. - The first hour of the movie, I loved Noahs family (esp the subplot of Ila, how beautiful). I often feel this way as a Christian dad: creating a perfect little bubble for my wife and children. The reality of the world is unsettling, just as it was to Noah, and the movie took a darker turn. You know the story. Dont listen to those who are saying dont watch it. Buy your tickets and see this film. Im thinking it epic in the sense that it does (and likely will) change the way the bible hits the silver screen.
