Wow! Now news 12 is after the public employees. I love the way everyone is h aveing a opinion on public servant salaries. If I remember correctly we pay to take a open test. We study and workout to score high enough to be hired. We have to work 24 hours a day 7 days a week and all holidays. We on average take 10-20 years off our life by the physical and mental stress. We on average loose a firefighter or police officer everyday either to injury or death. We risk our lives to protect the public from loss or life or property. We see people in horrible accidents and see people whos life belonging or loved one are taken by fire or crime. Is it to the point where I ask everyone who wants to complain about our pay, retirement, and benefits spend one day in our shoes. I find it funny that most of the complainers are the same people who probably either tried to get a public service job or was a wall street banker, politicians, 1% ers. The same person or persons who didnt even care about us and actually looked down on us till they lost their big paychecks and bonuses. If they want to complain they should complain about the government bailing out all the companies who created the crippling financial status of this country. Heres a thought Reform welfare, big business bonuses, religious groups and all others who scam or take advantage of the system. Politicians have almost taken everything we have already what more does the public want? Do you want no firefighters, police officers, highway workers, sanitation workers, school teachers, ect. I personally have never abused overtime or sick time. I have many friends and co-workers who have never abused the system. I do how however know abuse may go on but dont penalize the many for the few. Please people wake up. The people who protect you and work for you ate not the problem. Sorry for the rant but this crap just pisses me off.
