Wow! Rarely am I at a loss for words, but wow is all that comes to mind! What if this kid had never been shown a piano? Would his gift have surfaced anyway? I believe every person is born with certain god-given/innate predispositions and talents. I believe the primary responsibility of parents and teachers is to find these, which are unique to each child, and develop them, enabling each individual to become who they were meant to be. I fear our cookie cutter educational system, with its Industrial Age one-size-fits-all approach far too often stifles childrens gifts. Shout out to this dedicated parent for rising above! Parents must be proactive in identifying their childrens gifts and developing them despite what conventional wisdom teaches. What if Mozarts parents accepted that he shouldnt begin piano until he is at least six because his fingers arent strong or big enough ? Those early formative years are so important. This video is testament to what a gifted child can accomplish with an insightful parent who recognizes aptitude and provides rich, challenging, and regular opportunities to develop the childs natural inclinations into skills that grow with time and disciplined nurturing! Take away point: every kid is different. Know your kids and support their special abilities!
