Wow SubhānAllāh! Yesterday during Dhuhr prayer something - TopicsExpress

Wow SubhānAllāh! Yesterday during Dhuhr prayer something happened which has made me think! Now it may just have been a mere coincidence or not a big deal to many, but SubhānAllāh its a wake up call for me! So recently in life Ive been sort of re-inventing myself, i.e. my focus has shifted dramatically towards career goals etc. and wordly things, which in a way has had somewhat of an impact on my deen - at least until I find the right balance once again inshaAllah. So one thing in particular that Ive been working on and thinking about a lot comes to me during my prayer today. This is before beginning the recitation of the Surah which comes after Al-Fatihah. It may just have been a brief thought, but since its been on my mind it has started to interrupt my salah now and then. Its worth noting that before praying I had already planned which Surahs I was going to read in this prayer. And then the thought came... and without even thinking of it, without even consciously deciding to choose this Surah to read, I started to recite a Surah At-Takāthur. This was NOT what I had in mind to recite. So while I was thinking of a wordly thing which interrupted my prayer, I began reciting this Surah and what does the very first verse say? Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you [102:1] It may not have matched exactly what I had thought about, but man does this put me in my place! Not only was this quite a wow experience, but it goes to show that whatever occupies our hearts will also come into our prayers. When we say the opening Allahu Akbar, the aim is to leave all of the world behind you and to focus solely on the Lord whom you stand before and submit to. Its an amazing thing, the Quran.
