Wow!!! Such a fine poem you wrote circa your 61st birthday, Janet. Very reminiscent of the poems and prose that made it to print in the book, When I Am An Old Woman, I Shall Wear Purple. If you have not ever read that book or any of its pieces, this might be a good time to do so. If you have read that book or some of its pieces, this might be a good time to read again. My favorite piece in the book is titled, All the Time. That particular piece crossed my mind when I read your poems line about your relationship with time, which is in more than a few ways similar to my relationship with time. As once the head nurse (my immediate boss) at Colby College Infirmary once described the latter, Diane is not all that interested in time. Paradoxically, I probably think about time more than those for whom punctuality is not an issue in this life. Be it nature or nurture, I know not. My Dad was extremely punctual. By contrast, my Mom was always running late. Before he died, my Dad would say to my Mom and me, Youre both going to be late for my funeral. We were. Twenty-one years later, I almost missed my Moms funeral. Yesterday however, I arrived a whole five minutes early for an appointment. I therefore suppose that there is still hope for my souls salvation with regard to how often I have sinned and been tardy (as they referred to it on elementary school report cards). Nonetheless, now nearly two months after your 61st birthday on September 13, 2013, I am about to end this little note like this: a belated birthday greeting to you, Janet Leibowitz-Martucci. (For the record, probably not one September 13th has passed over the decades without me thinking of both you and Kevin Jacques on your shared birthday ... ).
