Wow! The Seahawks sure set fire to the rain yesterday. I have never been so emotionally drained after a game. It was a win that will be remembered around the Pacific Northwest forever. Quick morning update on our sweet Deonna Keiser. She is back home and still making a little progress each day. Communication is a challenge but her positive attitude makes things so much easier. She can get around pretty good on her own and only needs help with a few things. I think that it will still be quite some time before she can actually communicate in one form or another. I work with her constantly and she has shown some progress with the speech therapist. Unfortunately her insurance will only provide for a fraction of the actual speech therapy sessions that she needs. Im am trying to learn as much from her speech sessions as Dee because I need to continue her lessons at home if I want her to be able to speak again. Last week was another extremely tough one for our family. We found out that Dee has what is called vision field cut. This means that she has lost the left 50% of her vision in both eyes. She can still see what is in front of her but this means that it will probably never be safe for her to drive a car again. :( I still have some reservations about the optometrists diagnosis but he checked her twice and was very convinced that she had lost everything in her left field of vision. This is not something that will heal with time. We also received another dose of the painful realitys of life (enough already). Jayden was staying the night with her best friend on Friday night when they were both woken up early Saturday morning by her friends older sister (one of Tiannas long time friends) to let them know that their Mom had passed away in her sleep Friday night. WTF? She was in the hospital and had been sick but was not supposed to be in any imminent danger. She was just my age and my daughters and her daughters have been friends forever. It is such a sad story and I am sure makes Jayden even more aware of how lucky we are to have Dee back at home with us. It could have been so much worse for our family. Now we mourn for some sweet girls that are not as lucky as we were to get to have their Mom come back home. The emotional roller coaster that we have been on recently just needs to stop. My family could really just use a quite year with no more tragedies to our friends and family while Deonna continues to recover. It will take most everything that I have to be strong for Dee and the girls. The rest of you all please just dont do anything stupid and go and get yourself all killed or something. PEACE
