Wow! What a great example of why we are so passionate about educating the public and particularly our youth! Todays Lesson on genetically modified organisms (GMOs): Some crops DNA are injected with DNA from certain viruses/bacteria that make the crop resistant to herbicides poisons such as RoundUp. So when Farmer Joe sprays his corn crops with RoundUp, theoretically only the weeds die. This may initially sound like a great thing. However, we must realize that Farmer Joes RoundUp Ready Corn still gets thoroughly coated with poison. The plant then absorbs these poisons and we ingest them. The plant might be genetically immune to these poisons, but the human body is not.
