Wow! What an awesome weekend of barrel racing! 245 checks handed out worth over $86,000!!!! Add the $30,000+ in awards -thats OVER $116,000 in cash and prizes given out!!!! I want to thank each and every member this year for your support of ACBRA and making the Finals the fantastic event it turned out to be. I had only imagined that it would turn out the way it did, and there are so many people to thank for making it a reality. A huge thank you to Taylor and Bailey Nahrgang for their incredible handling of the office, announcing, and keeping the race going at a lightening fast pace!! Their organization and professionalism set the tone for such a top notch event, and there is no way I could have done it without them. Our ground crew - Marc Mastroianni for the 2 days of ground prep he did on an arena that needed a ton of work when we arrived, and Carl Donley, Pete DeWitt, and Tony Ornellas for the incredible ground that only got faster as the weekend progressed, as well as stayed very consistent. So nice to see a 17.3 first thing in the morning, then the smoking 17.2 with less than 30 riders left in the entire race. Their hard work is truly appreciated! Betty Breaux took on the thankless task of being the the arena judge, and worked the gate for the entire race. She kept everyone where they needed to be, which really kept the race moving. I would also like to thank the Board for their hard work this year, and everyone contributing to the success of the 2013-14 Finals - Jeanette Yanez, Jessika Willoughby, Trudi Bordi, and Patti Silva - couldnt have made it through the year without you guys! As my term as President has come to an end, it is somewhat bittersweet. Its a lot of work, especially when working full time, but I have met so many incredible people, made a lot of new friends, and the cherry on top was seeing so many happy and gracious people at the Finals, even if they didnt win a check or award. There were so many highlights that stick out in my mind from the Finals that will truly be cherished memories - a lot of people having personal bests on the pattern, first time winners of saddles, buckles, and checks, great displays of good sportsmanship, many new members at their first Finals, and just seeing a great group of people having a great time! It was a privilege to lead ACBRA this past year, and I thank you all. Hoping to see you all back for the 2014-15 season and good luck to all!! Cammy Schneider
