Wow! Who knew? ;-) Since Im now on a regular schedule playing and singing for the residents of the nursing home where Donnas mom is, Im getting to know the residents much better, and the workers too... I try to make them laugh when I can, and maybe provide a bright spot in their day.. They think its great fun to request a particular song, just to see if the big guy with the huge black accordion can do it (For instance: Did you know that How Much is That Doggie in the Window has 5 verses?)... Anyway... The latest request came from one of the younger female staff members: Staff Member: Oooh! Oooh! I heard an AWESOME song the other night on The Voice! That guy Craig Wayne Boyd sang it, and I think they said Alan Jackson wrote it... I think it was something about a cross and a hill, or something.. It was AWESOME! Just AWESOME! Me: The Old Rugged Cross? Staff Member: YEAH! I think that was it! Do you think you could learn it and sing it next time maybe? Please? Me (Trying really hard not to laugh, but with a big grin) : Yes, Maam.. I believe I could probably manage that.. Again... Wow... I have a new audience and a repertoire of all new songs!
