Wow. Wow. Ive never before been to the Remembrance Day ceremonies, - TopicsExpress

Wow. Wow. Ive never before been to the Remembrance Day ceremonies, but what is it with the emotion? 102,000 people, mainly 19-22 year old young men, have been killed fighting for Australia. Such a tragedy, and yet we still send people off to War. I was okay at the start. Hard wet work, and apparently I should have jumped on to the War Memorial website and booked tickets. Was okay as the numbers were down a bit, and plenty of room. The army band was brilliant. Crisp, accurate, really well drilled. The picollo in the marching tune was a feature, and the national anthem was made by the glockenspiel and the lady standing behind me with an incredibly beautiful voice. It builds up. Keating was out of practice public speaking, and made a few tongue slips. My camera battery ran out at 8 mins into videoing it. But therell be better footage from the official media who were everywhere. But when the schoolkids came to lay their poppies, seven schools, the NT missed out, but every other state and the locals were here, I was gone, and regretting not having tissues. Geez. Thats what I came for. The rain stopped right at the end as Ross Symonds (MC) apologised for. But hell the bushfire risk is low. I saw a break to the east over the Carillon on the way back to the motel. Im going to avoid the War Memorial today, its packed, so Im off to Parliament House, both old and New, for some indoor shots.
