Wow, by far the WORSE bike ride to date! A very s-l-o-w 63.5 miles. I dont usually complain on here, but I just need to vent. All was good for the first 37 miles, not fast but not so slow...after the Oh Shift hill; really at the 37.8 rest stop my upper legs started hurting; above the knees up to the lower pelvic bones (both sides). The ride between 37 and the next rest stop at 53, I thought I wouldnt make it. The pain was so intense...it was a tingling, constant pain that felt better if I was pedaling (no energy for fast because of the pain), but down hills of coasting were so painful I had tears in my eyes. At the 53 mile rest stop we loosened my seat (leather) and I removed the leg warmers. The tingling may have been from no circulation in my legs. Off the bike and walking around the pain went away and the next 6 miles were great, but the last 4 were miserable, pain came back. Ive concluded its either the seat or the new MBC shorts...the padding is much thicker and may have caused pressure on my bottom to cut off circulation in the legs. Lower legs and feet were fine. Any cyclists have any similar situations or other suggestions? I have never felt this, even in the first month of riding hills. Tomorrow relaxer ride, no MBC shorts and Ill loosen seat a bit more and see how it goes. Century is next Saturday, could not have made that distance today. Most complained about the wind, but I was in too much pain to let it phase me much :-) On the positive side, the weather was awesome, organization and service from Bonnie, Robert, Kathy and others was outstanding, company was great, 2470 feet of climbing and 3,300 calories burnt. A rough day! Vent done! :-)
