Wow, check this out! The latest Cochrane review on delayed cord clamping in infants at term has found that delayed clamping leads to higher hemoglobin levels in babies, higher iron stores at 6 months, and no worsening in maternal outcomes. The risk of jaundice-- which is frequently cited as a reason NOT to do delayed cord clamping-- was only slightly higher in the delayed cord clamping group (4.4% vs. 2.7%).
