Wow, it has been a busy month! My apologies for the hiatus, everyone, I hope that all is well and that you have been learning plenty! Ill start off with one of the bigger breakthroughs that has come out recently. Im sure most of you have at least heard of the big bang gravity waves recently discovered. Back in 1916, Albert Einstein predicted gravitational waves to exist. A gravitational wave is a ripple of spacetime, theoretically radiating gravity with them. Physicists have recently been able to make images representing these gravitational waves, which is a first! This serves as direct proof of inflation after the Big Bang. According to Scientific American, the strength of the signal is ruling out many current inflation models which could pave the way for all new theories in physics. This image was made from observing the cosmic background radiation from the Big Bang looking for patterns that, scientists say, could have only been created by the gravity waves produced from inflation. While scientists are still in the process of repeating the experiment to verify the data, physicists are very confident these results are legitimate and that we now have more insight into what happened shortly after the universe was created.
