Wow... it seems that new judicial law I mentioned earlier today is even worse than I thought. Seems the new judicial law the administration has submitted to parliament (and so will pass without any parliamentary discussion) includes up 5 year prison sentences for anyone that writes anything critical about the government, the president, prime minister or any ministers on Twitter. That in addition to anybody the government declares an enemy, traitor or a coup sympathizer (which is everyone who doesnt vote AKP) can be wiretapped and investigated and have all their assets seized by the decision of a single judge (normally it requires a few more people to make that decision)... and since the government has taken over the institution that appoints judges, judge in Turkey now simply means dogmatic Erdoğan supporter in robes. Oh, and also, no longer is concrete evidence needed to allow such rulings, reasonable suspicion is now enough. Funny how just 7 months ago, when the government and AKP-allied businesses were exposed of committing widespread multi-billion dollar corruption, they passed ANOTHER judicial law that made it very hard to arrest anyone and required ridiculous amounts of concrete evidence for a judge to authorize an investigation... and they dare call this rule of law? taraf.tr/haber-tum-muhalifler-olagan-supheli-haline-geliyor-166048/
