Wow, tonights meeting was phenomenal! Coral Evans rocked our boat with some hard hitting realities of the world we live in today. She reminded us that there are many issues that we should all be riled up about. These include: voter suppression, mass incarceration, legalization of racial profiling, climate change, corporate personhood, immigration and the list goes on. While some of these issues are massive in scale, she emphasized the fact that we all have the ability to make changes. We cant just simply give up because things dont look so pretty. We need to reclaim our society by reclaiming our civic responsibilities to be informed and engaged; by reclaiming our government by voting for people who will fight to make our communities more equitable, fair, just, and responsible; and by striving to make the changes within ourselves that reflect the larger changes we want to see. We can all begin to make these large scale changes beginning at the local level. Every single one of us can be makers of change and we are more effective when we band together. Thanks to everyone who came out. The discussions that takes place at Firecreek Coffee Company every Tuesday is truly transformational. Dont be shy, join us next week.
