Wow, was just reading some posts that were associated with the Coca-Cola commercial during the SB. It is funny how differently John and I saw it than most commenting. I had chills it was so lovely (so did John) and it made me teary-eyed. I found it to be so moving; listening to all these people sing about OUR country, THEIR country, AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL, in all those different languages. Have we become so consumed with hatred that we have forgotten to honor those who come here as our forefathers did? We are a nation of immigrants, and no one needs to remind either John or myself that those here illegally dont belong. But what in the world is wrong with speaking, or in this case, singing, in native tongues? I wish I was able to speak the language of my ancestors because I assure you it wasnt English! John and I applaud the beauty of the message and it is not a new message that Coke was promoting. Peace and tolerance are NOT a bad thing. God bless those who legally come here to better their lives; it is why all our families came here. Please do learn to speak English, and when you know more about our country than those of us raised here (which is very often the case for those who become citizens), thank you for wanting to join us in our freedoms and for sharing your cultures, languages and religions. Diversity is a beautiful thing and the foundation of our country, and we can all learn from one another.
