Wow, we are getting pounded with snow. At least another foot today. It wasnt that bad at first so I decided to go to the hot springs. I really needed a soaking. The drive up wasnt too bad, I went over Ute Pass to stay off of Hwy 9. They had not plowed up there so it was fun plowing through 6 inches of snow in a Prius. On the way back, I figured they might have plowed out there. They may have made a pass earlier, but the snow was much deeper by the time I came through. Luckily I had the road pretty much to myself so I just kept it steady and did just fine. About half way I came upon a pickup truck doing 25 mph. I almost got stuck several times as going that slow did not give me enough momentum to get through the deeper stuff. Highlight of the trip was seeing the Snowshoe hares playing in the snow as I came off of Ute Pass toward Hwy 9. The trip from there to Silverthorne was miserable with traffic. Im so glad I took Ute Pass. But, I wish I had a Jeep! That trip would have been a blast in a Jeep. Oh, thats right, we have a Jeep. Im just not allowed to drive it.
