Wow...what a difference a year makes! Last year, we attended the Canine Hope for Diabetics conference, but it looked VERY different. We could only come during the day and not overnight. We knew no one really, and were basically overwhelmed by the people and their amazing DADs. We made some connections (thank you Dorrie)...even one to another perspective DAD family (hugs to you Megan!), but Ry wouldnt leave my side. We didnt even make the group picture last year due to our schedule. The only thing I remember was that I wanted to be apart of this group of genuinely caring people who wanted to do everything to keep their T1 loved one healthy. I wanted to learn everything I could about how to make adding a DAD to our family possible. Watching these dogs in action was the biggest gift. Fast forward to this year...we have Apollo...our hero...my boy was hanging out with the other T1 kiddos and their siblings...running, climbing, playing...checking blood sugars...leaving a trail of test strips behind them...and rewarding their DADs as they alerted. I was asked to speak about taking a DAD to school...which was one of the most humbling experiences Ive ever had. I took in every moment...had wonderful conversations with families who are still working on bringing their DADs home. I got to meet, in person, the amazing Jennifer Colosi, who sent test strips in the mail because we ran out. Thank goodness our very gifted photographer, Frank Wisneski took these photos, because I really didnt take many this weekend. I was busy chatting and just soaking in the support and education. Thank you Crystal, Johanna, Stefanie, and Darla for all of your hard work. The picture of all the DADs in attendance is outstanding! Can you find Apollo??
