Wow, what an awesome day! Thank you to everyone that came out to enjoy the inaugural Bayside Blues Festival. Attendance records were done at the gates and we can confirm that over 2600 people attended during the course of the day/night. :) For a first time event, the numbers were terrific with people still arriving after 7pm. The park really showed its potential for future events and I can advise that council are already looking into some possible infrastructure that will make the Capalaba Regional Park the premier outdoor entertainment site of Redland City. The atmosphere was fantastic! The kids seemed to have had a ball, parents were able to relax and music lovers were able to enjoy some of the best live Blues that Australia has to offer. Now that the dust has settled, the committee will soon get together and discuss things that we did well and things that we could have done better (remember, none of us had been involved in something like this before) and decide whether it will become an annual event. We will let everyone know soon but Im quietly confident. ;) Again, thankyou to everyone who came to the event, shared this page and supported us in general. The committee would like to thank the following sponsors: Redland City Council Qld govt (Dept of communities) J.J Richards Capalaba Sports Club Steve Davies (State member for Capalaba) Brisbane Refrigerated Couriers XXXX We would also like to thank the following people: Patrick Burke (staging and sound production) Desley Done( booking the best acts available) John Klose (master of ceremonies) The Rotary Club members/volunteers. The Army Cadets who cleaned up the grounds and stayed on site during the night for security (well done guys and girls). Capalaba Sports Club staff who volunteered behind the bar. Everyone that helped in the lead up to the day, on the day and with the pack up that followed. In particular, Id like to thank Warren Doyle (Rotary member) who went above and beyond and spent 8 months working on preparations. Without Warren, this event may never have eventuated. Once again, thanks to all. :) Paul Gleeson
