Wow what can we say. Irish Drift Championship Round 3 - TopicsExpress

Wow what can we say. Irish Drift Championship Round 3 #Globalwarfare by far the best event ever to be held in Ireland. Take a bow Dave Egan and all the Staff at IDC. As some of you know there were 5 FD drivers over to contest this round. Daigo saito , Robbie Nishida , Dean Karnage Kearney , Matt Powers , Darren McNamara. We at TDP were given the job of preparing the m.g crash repairs dublin 3 cars that would be used by Diago, Robbie and Dean. Dean was to drive the car that he finished in 2nd place at IDC round 1 the Nissan S15 RB25 600+BHP car. Robbie would drive the NIssan S15 RB26 700+bhp car that won the 2012 championship with Brendan Stone at the wheel. Mr Saito was to drive the Toyota Altezza with a fully revamped engine and gearbox package. We worked around the clock literally for days to get the cars ready and then on Friday morning we had a visit to our shop in Rathnew, Co.Wicklow by none other than Daigo Saito, Robbie Nishada and Dean Kearny. The cars we almost ready and we were putting the finishing touches to them. As the visitors looked around the workshop we could not help notice that they were very interested in the TDP S-Body front kit on the S15 RB26 car. We sent them off to the track in the hope of getting the cars there later in the day but that would not happen due to late and incorrect prop shafts for 2 of the 3 cars. The CNC shop at TDP stepped up the game and modified the parts to fit the cars but practice was over. Robbie@tdp put all 3 cars on the Dynapack chassis dyno and checked all the preparation work was proforming as planed and that the Race Fuel was up to scratch. The last car on the Dyno was the Link ECU MG Altezza. It preformed well and made good power and torque. All 3 cars were loaded onto the transporter and off to the track. After lunch the cars took to the track Dean Kearny was flying Robbie Nishade was taking to the S15 R26 like a duck to water but there was a problem with the Altezza it was over-boosting due to a stuck waste-gate valve. Our efforts to fix this at the track were in vain as we did not have the time. So Robbie@tdp took the Altezza back to the shop where with all the equipment at his disposal he was able to fix the problem and test it out properly. Sunday morning came and Robbie was 15 mins late getting to the track for the 9am practice. He found Daigo Saito in another TDP built car of Richie ONeils. He asked Daigo to try the Altezza which he did but he soon returned it to the pits in favor of the S14. We were confused until we were told he had fallen in love with the TDP S-body front kit in the SR20 powered car. He decided to go with the 500 bhp SR20 with our awesome front kit and not with the 800bhp 2jz Altezza. While we were bitterly dissappointed that he didnt want to drive a car we were 2 weeks building for him, we were pleased that Daigo the number 1 ranked drifter in the wold was giving our front kit such strong approval. Mark Gafney decided to call upon the 2012 drift champion Brendan Stone to fill the empty seat of the Link ECU MG Altezza. The car was quickly converted to Brendans seat with the help of many Irish drifters. But Brendan had missed his first qualifying slot. He was allowed a sighting lap but not allowed to drift. So with one shot at qualifying in this newly built car, could he do it? The answer was an overwhelming yes. As he pulled 6th place in just one run. A failing tps sensor caused the car to over heat on the start line while waiting for his battle with Barry Leonard causing a loss in power and giving Barry the advantage in the first run. Brendan called a 5 minute rule. We fixed the sensor and refilled the coolant but Brendan could not force an error from the experienced Barry Leonard. We were happy that the car was competitive and we were delighted to see Brendan having another chance on the day. Daigo was driving like he had owned the car all his life but with only 500bhp from the small SR engine he was at a disadvantage compared to some of the other pro cars. This meant he would use the clutch an awful lot. Instantly Robbie@tdp knew the clutch in Richies car would not last the day. So after the super lap Robbie@tdp changed the clutch in only 20 mins. We got him back out on track and he went on to achieve 4th place - again hindered by a slipping clutch. We would like to thank IDC for the brilliant event, Mark Gafney for the time and effort he put into making his cars look great on the day, even spending his birthday applying stickers. We would like to thank all the TDP staff and their families for their patience over the last 2 weeks. Jules Chambers for his help no matter what was needed. All the drivers we worked with throughout the weekend, including Lluis Lopez who traveled to us from Spain to have his car mapped in advance of the week end. And last but not least, we wish to thank all our regular customers for making this an event to be remembered. #Youllneverbeattheirish
