Wrapping Up The Weekend Its been quite a weekend. As many of you know little Sparky, our five-month-old lab mix came down with parvo. That happened on Saturday. I spoke to the doctor yesterday and he said we caught it early, which is fabulous. I did ask the doctor to start him on Tamaflu, a drug used typically for people to ward off the flu. It has had some success so I made arrangements to have someone pick it up at Walgreens and deliver it to the animal hospital. (Thank you Christy). I havent heard from the animal hospital today but its Sunday and I assume no news is good news. Ill call first thing tomorrow. This weekend we also had three fundraisers going on. We had volunteers at the Jewel in Libertyville and the Pet Supplies Plus in Mundelein. Many, many thanks to both businesses for supporting AEAR. Many thanks to the volunteers that helped with those three fundraisers. We also had some calls this weekend where I think we were able to help people out. Someone needed advise on catching their neighbors cat that has remained allusive for ten months, living outside. Another call was someone wanting us to take in a small dog that they found as a stray. They have offered to foster the dog until she gets adopted. Ill meet her tomorrow night and decide whether well take her in. Shes a poodle mix. And of course this weekend we had the regular stuff that goes on, the care of the animals, communicating with foster families and volunteers and other misc. things. Tomorrow night is our monthly new volunteer orientation as well as our fundraising meeting. If you are interested in possibly helping out the orientation would give you the information you need to decide. It starts at 6:15 p.m. at the Libertyville Civic Center. More information is on our web site at aear.org. I want to end this post with a positive message...although I am finding it challenging tonight because my mood is a bit melancholy, for no obvious reason. So I suppose I will just reflect on that and maybe you can relate. Moods cycle with everyone. We cannot always be bright and sunny. As the universe cycles...light and dark, rain and shine, cold and warm, so do all living souls. One of the things we can learn from that is that nothing stays the same, ever. Everything is ever changing and will continue to evolve. So when you too are melancholy too rest assured it is just a moment in time and that mood will change again soon. Sweet dreams:)
