Wreath laying ceremonies were held at the graves and monuments of the recipients of the Nishan-e-Haider, the country’s, highest gallantry award and also on the graves of other Shuhada who laid their lives for the defence of motherland. A large number of people belonging to various walks of life attended the ceremonies to pay homage to the brave sons of soil who demonstrated indomitable courage and valour in defence of the motherland. Brigadier Adil Yamin, Brigade Commander laid a floral wreath and offered fateha at the grave of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, the first recipient of the coveted Nishan-e-Haider who embraced Shahadat at Tilpatri (Azad Kashmir) in 1948. A floral wreath was laid at the grave of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, at Tufailabad in Tehsil Arifwala. Major Tufail Muhammad embraced Shahadat at Lakshmi Bridge in East Pakistan in 1958. Brigadier Farooq Ahmed laid floral wreath at his grave. Major General Humayun Aziz, General Officer Commanding Kharian, laid a floral wreath at the grave of Major Aziz Bhatti, Shaheed, in Ladian near Gujrat and offered fateha. Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed embraced Shahdat in 1965 at Burki, Lahore. Major General Sher Afghan, General Officer Commanding, laid a floral wreath and offered fateha at the grave of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed at Jhelum. Major Muhammad Akram embraced Shahdat at District Hilli in East Pakistan. Major General Fida Hussain, General Officer Commanding Lahore, laid a floral wreath and offered fateha at the grave of Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed at Lahore. Major Shabbir Shareef Shaheed embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland in 1971. At Mehfoozabad, old Pind Malkan, Brigadier Tarique Quaider laid a floral wreath at the grave of Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed and offered fateha. Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland at Atari, Wagha border in 1971. Brigadier Shah Nawaz laid a floral wreath at the grave of Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed at Dhoke Muhammad Hussain near Gujar Khan and offered fateha. Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland at Zafarwal Sector in 1971. Brig Mudassir Azam laid a floral wreath at the grave of Captain Kernal Sher Khan Shaheed who was awarded Nishan-e-Haider for his valour and bravery in Kargil war. Major General Asim Munir, Commander FCNA laid floral wreath at the grave of Havildar LalikJan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider. A ceremony was held to lay floral wreath at Nikyal sector to pay homage to Nike Saifullah Janjua Shaheed (Hilal-i-Kashmir equivalent to Nishan-e-Haider). Brigadier Talib Zafar Dar laid floral wreath at his grave. #DefenceDay
