Writen by Pinchos Kaluszyner: Shalom, My Mother wrote a book that may be of interest to some in your group. My Mother Rifka Kaluszyner nee Ehrlich lived in David Horodok with her family. At the onset of the War she fled with her parents, sister and her brother Yom Tov Ehrlich and ended up in Samarkand where they remained on a kolchoz until the war ended. Her Mother, who became a widow during their stay in Samarkand , lived with us her entire life. We grew up surrounded by stories and memories of David-Horodok making us feel like it was actually our home town we feel almost as if weve been there. My mother may she be well has yet to give up, on her desire to visit her home town, someday. I have attached a link to the book, which she named The Not So Far Away Past which is available on Amazon. She wrote the book in Yiddish and her daughter Dina Storch a talented composer, did her utmost to not loose the unique Yiddish flavor from a native Horodokian in translation. The books name will bring a smile to the Yiddish speakers der nisht vaitiger amoll , This is a very unique book depicting holocaust survival, as the author is an extremely positive person ,who managed to find the bright side of every situation she found herself in throughout her survival years ,even finding humor in the most unlikely places.
