Writing this update is the formal recognition that leading YPDTS is over for me! I stretched it out a few more weeks with some of the guys staying on a bit longer and finishing everything off but its officially been a month now. The school was great, outreach was great, so good to reconnect with opportunities in Nepal and Mongolia that the YP has really established over the years. Report back week was a lot of fun, got to teach the few days, lots of fun times with the crew.. and then it was over! Its been such a privilege to lead YP all these years, but definitely a range of emotions in the transition out of it! Stoked to finish with such a great crew. If I think ahead theres a real mix of opportunity, apprehension, excitement, fear, faith, discovery... Its been my life the last chunk of time and I havent not had a 6 month/6month life for a long time.... Its been something that I have loved and theres definitely part of it which is letting go, whilst also taking time to really kinda value what has been. And then theres also lots of uncertainty in thoughts and emotions, really the newness of being in this position. All great and right, just new, and thats something that I just need to learn how to respond to well. God just continues to teach me more and more about what I hope for/expect/desire/demand... just continuous lessons in what it is to not hold onto my rights. I actually get to speak a couple times on DTSs coming up on Lordship and yeah I guess the process of getting prepared is not so much about writing out notes but more about dealing with heart attitudes on this subject. First up I jumped into working with all the DTS for the time ahead. So I get to meet with the DTS leaders, give input, answer questions, make decisions with them, help run staff training, communicate with outreach teams, do all the ticketing... anything DTS related! Right now we have 4 DTS running - Music, Sports, 4WD Adventure and Priceless (Justice focused). Then another 3 in October and 4 in January... So its lots of meetings and communication etc. But its great, love being able to give input at the level of DTS leaders where it all gets implemented into our schools. I do get to teach a few weeks as well which will be fun... and then lots of DTS related projects. The plan is that I could still jump on for a few weeks maybe twice a year for outreaches, in a strategic way if it can support and strengthen. The plan was to reconnect with contacts in Mozambique in October as its been 5 years since I took the first team from YWAM Perth to locations we have now sent many teams to. Be sweet to check out everything that has continued to happen there as its a place I have really got to invest in and feel like our team was the start of a great partnership! Probably work the year out and help the new YP leader Bronte set up for the school, and then maybe take a little break at that point for a few weeks! So yes, still with YWAM Perth and loving it! I feel the next 1-2 years is a time to really invest into DTS as a whole and at the same time really consolidate in what God would have for the next 5-10 + years.... Its still missions, young people, ideas... but I guess Ive always known practically day to day what that will involve, so now there is space to generate vision and ideas. Which always brings up familiar fears or uncertainties but just needing to respond to those in faith and expectation. So updates may look a little different but Im still very much YWAM Perth!! We also have a new building project coming up so I hope to be allowed back on the drywall crew...( I mean to help out but also it was great for my arms.) Running hills and swimming laps cos its way harder to stay in shape now (and theres been a few comments about doubling in size and you need to cut back).... Pulling the occasional shift at the cafe just to keep up the latte skills. Waiting for summer!!!
