Written by Glen Deacon (Co-organiser of the North Wexford Cycle Against Suicide Spins group) Ok why the hell am I still cycling? I started to do a little and try create awareness about depression and mental health, but it grown into so much more! It is still creating awareness as I believe someone walk up to our little group this evening and asked where they can donate... That to me shows the little band of orange brothers is working, get people wondering what the orange is about and getting people talking. Its become a social thing bring together people who want to help others, people who need a little help and encouragement to challenge themselves and people need a little company and a reason to get out of the house. Theres also the fitness. People who didnt think theyd cycle to the shops are doing 30km and saying I dont feel like Ive done anything. This is great! So I guess Im still cycle in groups and alone for many reasons. It time to process, time to get fit, its time to challenge myself. In doing all that wearing the orange its getting people in Ireland talking about mental health! So I guess I better keep cycling as it might one day get someone else to think and talk....
