Written by Pete Evans, Guitar & Vocal by Pete Evans. Harmonica by Pat Clarke. I stumbled across this story by accident whilst researching material for another song and the story intrigued me. The song tells the true story of William Henry Lovelock, a soldier who in 1941 came home on leave to find his wife in bed with her lover. In self defence he shot them both with the pistol they had acquired to shoot him. He was subsequently cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter.
