Read 1 Timothy 1, Isaiah 6:9-13 Nov 1 Early Warning Systems “Blessed are those who have a tender conscience, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble.” Proverbs 28:14 NLT Scientists are continually working to improve early warning systems for hurricanes, tornadoes, and tsunamis. Doctors. are continually reminding us to look for the early warning systems of various types of cancer and other illnesses, and reminding us the sooner the problem is detected the easier and more successful the treatment. God has given each of us a great early warning system. It’s called a conscience! God has put the knowledge of right and wrong in the hearts of all people so that we might be convicted of our sin and need for a Savior. Better yet, God has sent the Holy Spirit to all who believe in Jesus to guide us, and to go with us to encourage, strengthen, and heal as He transforms us into the image of Christ. When we fail to heed the early warning of conscience, we are opening the door for sin to take root and dull our consciences to where they no longer protect us. The deceiver of our souls uses denial, rationalization, and justification to try to short circuit our consciences and lead us down the yellow brick road of sin. Once our early warning system has been breached, He uses doubt and discouragement to try to get us to doubt our salvation. When we are at our worst, the Holy Spirit is at His best leading us back into the sheep fold of God’s grace, when we confess our sins with godly sorrow and true repentance. Father, thank You for the peace of a cleared conscience that is mine through faith in Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen. homilygrits/
