Written in early 2010. I wrote a piece several years ago about an interview with Susan Cole of the Now Toronto and some of her views of us in the United States, I have pasted it below. Recently, on Fox News, Susan G. Cole, a Canadian columnist for “Now Toronto“ was interviewed regarding Ann Coulter being run out of a speaking engagement at the University of Ontario. Susan stated “We don’t have the First amendment to free speech or a religion of free speech” in Canada. Toward the end of the interview, Susan characterized America as a nation of Rugged Individualism. I sensed she meant it in a rather derogatory manner, but I took it as a great compliment, it says something about the level of freedom we enjoy in this country. I prefer the “Rugged Individualism of Free Expression” and a “Healthy Private Sector Business Environment” to a system watered down by excessive government intervention, regulation and control. I believe in “Individual Excellence” to the mediocrity promoted by the collectivism of the so called “Social Democracies”. I believe in the “Ingenuity of our Entrepreneurs” to thrive under limited government as opposed to Entrepreneurs struggling to survive under big government. I am sad to say, our country under Obama over the last 5 years is becoming the opposite of what I prefer... Susan G. Cole must be delighted..
