Wrote a poem and shared in class last night about my hair being bad for being curly vs straight which is viewed as good. Which lead to the conversation about how in D.R. white was viewed as good and black was bad. This study was made amongst children 4 to 13. They couldnt find a black doll so they had to paint one! (Really???) when asked which doll stole the candy, which doll was ugly, which doll was going to be poor, the answer was always the black. It is so sad to think that we are injecting that mentality even before children can rationalize was being said. Something I would think would be different because Dominicans are so racially mixed. We need to teach our children that anything is possible regardless of what you look like; what matters is the drive you carry within....dare to be different and shock the world by being PROUD of it!!!!! youtu.be/yWS4Z6p5fpU
