Then they drill their alibis At the mouths of their excuses As they outline your insides Like drafting a map, or something But then you yawn under an awning Waving me onwards towards collapse But if it’s a matter of things to have If it’s a matter of chemicals interacting, well then… I would rather love someone I know I’ll never have Than have someone I know I’ll never love I’d rather be with no one than someone barely good enough I trace the paper night streets from under the waning moon above me. I trace the lines in my face completely. I face the paper in great defeat! As the streets, they shake me off, get up, and leave! I shake the shit from off my sleeves! I shake away the sham of disbelief! I would rather love someone I know I’ll never have Than have someone I know I’ll never love I’d rather be with no one than someone barely good enough
