Wth!?!?!? Was there any planning at all involved??? For awhile I supported the idea of a rail system and I still do, but this is ridiculous. This whole project is messed up. Too much incompetence and wasteful spending. I still support the idea, but I cannot in good conscience support this project. The current handling of this project is unacceptable and all things should cease until a proper plan is developed. But this goes beyond just the rail. How long have we as citizens let too much come to pass and how long more can we allow it? We spend too much time gossiping, we spend too much time complaining, judging, and coming up with half thought out ideas in discussions with our fellow citizens, but we fail to act. As citizens, most of us, including myself, have failed to act upon our beliefs and instead relied on others whether they be our politicians or community leaders to solve problems for us. Now what has this led us to? We are a state filled with corruption, a weak economy, and ignorance. Why can we not as a whole agree on a goal of the greater good for our people, and why can we as people not work together to make such a goal attainable? Lets take a moment and think about a possibility if we were not able to import anything. Gasoline, food, medical equipment, toilet paper, oh and tourists with spending money. Essentially, everything that we rely on as a modern society of our beautiful state of Hawaii is from some place else. But thank goodness we have at least our own sources of water. Oh, but many of us prefer bottled water. After this election, lets give a chance to our new elected officials to improve our islands and work for the well being of the people. But if we find little to no progress, what then shall we do? Shall we carry on with how things are and just complain to make ourselves feel good, or will we finally stand and make a difference? If we find our near future to be absurd, then we too must act accordingly. As insane as it is, there may be a point where we need to all literally stand and stop everything we are doing and properly fix our state. There may be a point where we need every individual who is able and willing to create a better society to finally unite and make a change. But lets hope our future will not require us to do so. Lets hope democracy and the honor of our elected politicians be enough.
