Wyoming Highway Patrol Colonel John Butler appointed four new division lieutenants today to fill three current and one upcoming vacancy in the first line supervisor ranks of the Patrol. The four new lieutenants took part in an extensive promotional process to achieve their new rank. Colonel Butler stated that this promotional process continues to remind us of the great caliber and character in our people within the Patrol and that our future is bright. Sergeant Chris Schell has been with the Patrol since January of 1996 and was selected from his Academy Coordinator position in Safety and Training to become the supervising lieutenant of Division B in Casper. Lieutenant Schell will be replacing retired Lieutenant Terry Vincent who retired back in September. Trooper Joseph Scimone has been with the Patrol since June of 2004 and was selected from his K-9 position in Cheyenne to become the supervising lieutenant of Division M in Douglas. Lieutenant Scimone will be taking over for Lieutenant Nate Hughes upon his retirement at the end of December. Trooper Ben Schlosser has been with the Patrol since November of 2007 and was selected from his trooper position in Wamsutter to become the supervising lieutenant of Division E in Rock Springs. Lieutenant Schlosser will be taking over for Lieutenant Scott Keane who left the Patrol in October to pursue a career in Nevada. Trooper Mike Simmons has been with the Patrol since August of 2008 and was selected from his trooper position in Cheyenne to become the supervising lieutenant of Division J in Laramie. Lieutenant Simmons will be taking over for Captain Tom Pritchard who promoted to the District 5 Captain in early October. Division lieutenants for the Wyoming Highway Patrol are first line supervisors responsible for overseeing troopers for a certain geographical area within Wyoming. These lieutenants are heavily tasked on a daily basis and are a key element to the success of the Patrol. Please join us in congratulating Lieutenants Schell, Scimone, Schlosser and Simmons (pictured left and then top to bottom).
