X*ACT Hosts the “On the Road Players” Politicians and public figures must have a little “ham” in their makeup, or they wouldn’t be able to gain their positions of community leadership. X*ACT has once again prevailed upon several of our local “celebrities” to help us out with our annual Community Fundraiser. Xenia’s Mayor Marsha Bayless has teamed up with Xenia Department of Development head, Mary Crockett, and long time Board of Education leader, William Spahr and several of our regular X*ACT acting troupe to form the “On the Road Players.” Early in August, they will bring you a murder mystery that will leave you laughing. You Know the Old Slaying by Michael Jacot is being directed by Tim Haney and Sara Duibley. The Xenia Area Community Theater will present You Know the Old Slaying, a murder mystery performed by the “professional” theatre company, the “On the Road Players” August 1, 2, and 3, 2014 at the X*ACT Theater, 45 W. Second Street Xenia, OH. Performances will be at 7:30 PM on August 1st and 2nd and a matinee at 3:00 PM on August 3rd. The Opening Night GALA on Friday, August 1st will feature a wine tasting sponsored by Caesar Creek Vineyards. In a review from the West Podunk Monitor: “The show will feature Broadway and film actress Lisa McFarland in the lead role of Loretta Grace Downing. Ms. McFarland was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in The After Dinner Engagement. Other cast members include Mark Henshaw as Don Banner and Darlene Richards as Cybil Banner. Harcourt Rodale directs the play. Flash Burns is the stage manager and Bradley Reese is the understudy to Mr. Henshaw and back stage technician. “In a recent interview, X*ACT Board President Alan King stated, ‘This show is really neat. Well, maybe not neat, but certainly better than a sharp stick in the eye.’ The “On the Road Players” of East Tawas, Michigan has performed throughout the mid-west and will arrive in Xenia after highly acclaimed performances in Celina, East Podunk, and Greenville.” Following the Xenia performances, the company will move on to 962 Long Rd., near New Jasper, Ohio for a single performance at Caesar’s Creek Vineyards on August 7, 2014 at 7:30 PM. Tickets for this X*ACT fundraiser are $15 at the door; $12 for X*ACT Members, Seniors, and Students. All tickets for the Opening Night GALA on August 1st are $17.50.
