XWE OWNER TELLS ALL THE BIG BOSS OF XTREME WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT SITS DOWN WITH MR. PAUL TO TALK THE YEAR THAT WAS 2013, HIS PLANS FOR THE COMPANY IN 2014 AND MORE 2013 was a year of personal growth for Xtreme Wrestling Entertainment, we crowned our first champion, we took the show on the road, signed new talent to the company and more. XWE owner Johan Lamprecht took time out to talk to Mr. Paul. Mr. Paul: 2013 was a big year for XWE, looking back what were some of the highlights of the year for you personally? Johan: Crowning the 1st XWE Champion at the Rise of Champions event, looking at one person who stood with me from day one as someone that believed in me making the biggest federation in Cape Town and then heading out for the rest of the country. Alcatraz proved he was a fighter, by becoming the 1st Champion in the history of our company. He showed me he could represent XWE and help us grow to be the biggest and best. Looking back at Rise of Champions, when Alcatraz held the XWE Championship above his head, was like the entire XWE team holing South African pro wrestling in their hands, smiling and saying; “We did it!”. Mr. Paul: In 2013 XWE took the show on the road, Touring places like Struisbaai and Gaansbaai, what did it mean to you as owner of XWE to see the product get out there and can we expect more trips in 2014? Johan: It means a lot to me and I’m sure to everyone at XWE, knowing we can go to places and entertain people all over, not just sit in one place and sulk and wonder when someone will ask us to come to their town. We work hard to get shows in and give everyone a opportunity to view SA wrestling at its best. Mr. Paul: We signed several new talents to XWE in 2013, tells us about the roster growth and any stand outs to you? Johan: I can say there is a couple of guys standing out but don’t want to make any predictions, let’s see what they bring to the ring and let the fans decide for themselves. To anyone out there who still wants to join XWE, come in and try it out, we have some of the best trainers and new blood (committed) are always welcome at XWE. Mr. Paul: Many people have been talking about your role in the controversial finish at the Big 2 Slam Tour in Gaansbaai. For fans that weren’t there, and have not heard the story; Alcatraz lost the title due to interference from guys like Dirty Angel 2, who you seemed to favour during his match with XploWsivE TNT, and others like Gypsey, etc. Many people question if these interferences were ordered by you, it would seem that it didn’t come from the General Manager as he signed the immediate title rematch, in which Alcatraz would win the belt back. Care to comment on these accusations? Johan: As everyone there knows, I wasn’t even there at the time of these events. I was with Ray Disturbe, who following his match with Warlock was admitted to the hospital in Gaansbaai. I only heard about the title changing hands afterwards, and can tell you I had nothing to do with it. I take any such accusations seriously and I can also inform you that the matter is under investigation and will be dealt with once the whole board has met to discuss the situation of wrestlers running around doing what they want, and believing they can get away with it. Mr. Paul: What does 2014 hold for XWE as a company? Johan: 2014 will be bigger and better, that much I can guarantee you. We are looking at new projects, projects that will see XWE entertaining fans in more ways than one. XWE is looking to be more interactive and are looking to all avenues of entertainment to keep our fans entertained. We constantly look at new ideas and with the help of outside parties backing us every step of the way, I am sure it’s just a matter of time, it might not be this year, but there is no doubt XWE will become the most dominant force in entertainment in South Africa. Mr. Paul: Who should fans be watching in 2014? Who do you predict to break through the proverbial glass ceiling? Johan: There are a number of guys to watch in 2014. However, knowing the XWE roster I can assure you guys like Londos Lionhart and X-Cyro will have their eyes set on the XWE gold, and then there are those who just want to destroy whatever comes before them. So to be honest, this will be an interesting year and do not be alarmed if you see more talent from elsewhere joining in the fun. Mr. Paul: Well Johan, I would like to thank you for your time. Any closing comments for the fans of XWE? Johan: Yes, there is... We had faith to get where we are today and there was a small period of time that a lot of people didn’t think we would make it, but now I am asking fans to put their faith in us to make 2014 the best year for XWE and that we will make our targets.
