Xis message to Macau •What’s happened? China President Xi Jinping visited Macau 19-20 December to celebrate the inauguration of Macau’s re-elected Chief Executive, as well as the 15th anniversary of Macaus return to China. President Xi gave a speech at the inauguration event, where he discussed four focal points of Macau’s future development: (1) governing by the rule of law; (2) appropriately diversified and sustainable development of the economy; (3) social harmony and stability; and (4) education and training of the younger generation. Obviously, among the four, his comment on #2 potentially has the biggest implication on the gaming industry, which we detail below....
