Xmas was lovely with my son, I figured with him entering a phase of manhood next year and Grade 12 special moments like that wont exist, so I promised myself to spend these holidays with him alone. He is 18 and is a grown -up, we have conversations, deep stuff man but hey, if he hasnt learnt a thing from Mom tough luck. He knows I am soft and tough, cry easily, swear like a Sailor and can whisper like a Nun.Mom with all her shades of grey, pink, yellow, lavender, olive, mango and so on. He still gets starstruck by my streetswagg, fine grasp of Grammar and knowing half the facts in the Guinness Book of Records of 2015 edition. Litha is my Cheerleader when Chichi Showers Me With A Bowl Full of Little Woman Jealousy. When Chichi thinks my shorts are short for a 42 year old Mom,he is the guy who says you look cool Mom. He is my ally, the guy who cooks for me and brings me breakfast in bed. Loving, compassionate and quiet I sometime feel anxious about him, but I know God has given me the balls to Raise a Man and I did my part. Now the world will demand its pound of flesh and I Pray that he will be prepared and well armed. At 18, its gonna be Grade 12 and prep for higher education. I will support him, his love for kids borders on something else.Once he asked if being a clown counts as a career, I told him Yes, if the idea of being 42 and staying with me suits him. He wants to be a businessman but he is so generous with his money and falls for all of Chichis pyramid schemes. I am privileged to have been given a rare honour of birthing u Radebe by the Universe and thank God and my ancestors for giving me the Wisdom to shape a mans character. Whether he brings home a woman twice his age or another Man is the least if my concerns. He is my Son and I will Always love and Support him like this. i will obviously miss his Laughter and caring Smile when he eventually leaves the nest, his cooked meals and healthy salads and snacks. But more than anything I count myself valued by Mother earth. If he brings a woman one day, I want to reassure those potential in laws that I have brought this boy up in an upright manner. His wife will be treated like A Queen and provided for.# For a Mom like me, I will miss our long chats about the state of the Global economy, DasKapital, utamkhulu uGwede notatuMalema as he calls them. Never in my Dreams did I think one day I will raise a Young Communist whose deep love for humanity far surpasses any understanding## An Ode to A Son#
