Y they deny reality of kashmir Srinagar: Shahid Kapoor starrer Kashmir centric Bollywood movie ‘Haider’ which gives credit in the end to Indian Army for saving hundreds of people from floods could not placate the Hindu zealots as Lucknow based group of lawyers organization ‘Hindu Front for Justice’ has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Allahabad High Court seeking ban on the movie for allegedly being anti-Indian. Reports said that acting on the contents of the PIL, Allahabad High Court double bench comprising justices V K Shukla and B K Srivastava issued notice to makers of Haider and Censor Board. According to CNS, the Court has sought reply to the allegations made by the petitioner from Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Director and Producer Vishal Bhardwaj, co-producer Siddharth Roy Kapur and co-writer Basharat Peer. The petitioners alleged that Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’ harmed the sovereignty, integrity and unity of India and no film could be displayed which harms national interest. The petition also alleged that the film has been picturized with an intent to malign the image of Indian Army across globe. “The movie ‘Haider’ has picturized in such a way as all the atrocities committed in Kashmir was the handiwork of Indian Army,” the petition reads. While urging upon central and the state government to initiate appropriate criminal proceeding against the director, producers, script writers and actors, the petitioners have appealed the court to ban the movie from screening in Cinema’s all across India. Pertinently, the censor board had approved Haider after asking for 41 cuts and only after that, the film was given a U/A certificate. Critics observed that it is hard to say what impact the film would have had if the censors had allowed the director’s cut of the film to pass. (CNS)
