YAHOO! FANTASY AUTO RACING PICKS FOR WATKINS GLEN GROUP A: Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch GROUP B: Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Marcos Ambrose, AJ Allmendinger GROUP C: Justin Allgaier, Michael McDowell This week my picks are broken into two groups…The qualifying team and the race team. In Group A I plan to use Kyle Busch in the race on Sunday and I like Kevin Harvick to qualify up front. Harvick had the fastest time in the first practice and practice fuel mileage runs in the second practice. If Kyle struggles for some reason in qualifying (has to start in the back for a wreck or blown engine), Harvick would still be a good choice. He started 4th at Sonoma and led the third-most laps. Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano had two of the fastest cars in the practices sessions. They are almost locks to qualify up front. I will use the Team Penske cars for qualifying points only and use Marcos Ambrose and AJ Allmendinger in the race. Both Ambrose and Allmendinger tested at Watkins Glen. Both drivers are very good at this racetrack and should run up front on Sunday. They finished #1 and #2 in practice. Group C is where it gets difficult this week. I decided to go with Michael McDowell and Justin Allgaier. Allgaier looked good in practice the first practice. He finished 2nd last year at Road America and seventh at Watkins Glen in the Nationwide Series. Allgaier is a good sleeper on road courses. McDowell is also underrated as a road course driver. He was 15th fastest in Happy Hour. He is worth a gamble this week. There is no way I would waste a start with Kyle Larson or Austin Dillon at this race track, even though they may finish the highest out of the drivers in this group. The risk is not worth the reward. OTHER DRIVERS TO CONSIDER: Group A: Clint Bowyer, Jeff Gordon Group B: Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, David Gilliland GROUP C: None
