YAJUR VEDA - CHAPTER 40 - MANTRA 1 Opening Statement: The Universe Is Dynamic Realism Eeshaa’vaasyam idam sarvam Yat kincha jagatyaam jagat Tena tyaktena bhunjeethaa Maa gridhah kasya swid dhanam – [1] All of this – whatever moves in this moving universe – is pervaded, occupied and owned by Eesh, God. Therefore, enjoy it only after having surrendered ownership; enjoy it without being attached. [While enjoying this Universe,] do not covet the wealth of anyone, for whose wealth is all of this? Everything of the Universe is dynamic. Movement inheres even in the tiniest of objects – in atoms and molecules. There is also movement in the huge revolving planets, and in galaxies that are still expanding. And, because of movement, everything changes each moment. Nothing is permanent in shape, size, color and form. Everything is movement within movement. Everything exists by movement and is dissolved by a cessation of movement. So, every moment we live on Earth we see birth, growth, decay and death, and then rebirth. There is no steady base on which we can safely erect the Structure of Life. This Mantra, however, assures us that if we look deeper, we can perceive a Changeless Being in the midst of Change and a Deathless Being in the midst of Death.
