Jean Milman has been singing n playing n songwriting since her teens...she was the only white gal in Oberlin Colleges Gospel Choir and she was Apprentice Girl Engineer at phillys fabled Sigma Sound Studio (home of the OJays, Spinners, Stylistics, etc., where Elton cut Philadelphia Freedom, where Bowie cut Young Americans) Besides learning how to spin them dials, Jean played big sister to the Jackson 5 kiddos, took em to Mas house, played cards all night. Jane been singin n pickin since 1919. Her band The The toured on bills with folks as diverse as The Troggs, John Cale, Nico, The Police, The Cramps, Black Oak Arkansas, Squeeze and Billy Bragg. Shes been in 5.2 zillion other bands, creating music with folks diverse as holy modal fugs rounder wizard Peter Stampfel...Sarah Carters cousin, clinch mt. fiddle champeen Jr. Daugherty.....Deerfrance--NYCs mythical pixie shaman soul singer.....Yodelin Donny Seely & His Rangers--maybe the greatest hillbilly yodeler ever......poet Lourdes Vazquez--among the true genies of Latin American literature...and old-time banjo phenom Bob Carlin.
