YARONA FM BUSINESS CHOPPIES LIFTS SUSPENSIONS OF SOUTH AFRICAN - TopicsExpress

YARONA FM BUSINESS CHOPPIES LIFTS SUSPENSIONS OF SOUTH AFRICAN BRANCH EMPLOYEES Retail Group Choppies has agreed to lift all suspensions issued against employees at its branches in South Africa, with immediate effect. According to a statement from the company, employees at both the Mafikeng and Delareyville branches were expected back at work yesterday, following dismissals on account of theft. This is in light of an intervention meeting between Choppies and the South African mediation group, Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration-CCMA, that took place yesterday. The intervention came as a result of a strike carried out over the weekend by members of the Food and Allied Workers Union-FAWU against the alleged unfair dismissal of some Choppies employees. In a statement released by Congress of South African Trade Union-COSATU on Monday, the union accused stores’ senior management from Botswana of exploiting employees, citing racial attitudes and physical assault as some of the problems that workers faced.
