YEAR 9 SPELLING BEE Last week we tested our best spellers at the Catmose College 2014 Year 9 Spelling Bee. Each class nominated their very best spellers to go head-to-head in a tense whole year Spelling Bee final. The competition got off to a gentle start with words like: bicycle, echo and ballet, but as the rounds progressed, the words became longer and more difficult. The students had their word knowledge put to the test with tricky-to-spell words such as: charisma, havoc and embarrass. Many of our bees fell at these spelling hurdles, but tough words proved no match for our top spellers. Out of twenty competitors, Caitlin Edens achieved third place, Sam Jones came a close second, and Will Cregan took the first place title. The English Team would like to congratulate the winners and thank all the students who participated in what proved a fantastic Spelling Bee.
