YEAR IN REVIEW: REMEMBERING OUR GUESTS Every guest who come to the Day Center is memorable and here are a few of my memories for those who left us too suddenly I met JOHN four years ago when I was looking for the Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen. John had a theory of who committed the Isabella Gardner Museum art theft in 1990 and towards the end of his life he started to give me his evidence, a trickle at a time, so I would write it down for him. Because he was the first guest I met since working at the Center, John had a special place in my heart. BOBBY was a chess whiz. One time he beat me at chess in four moves! Bobby was battling throat cancer . The last thing I did for him was to sign him up for a free phone for emergencies. Because he couldnt speak well, to thank me he kissed my hand. DANNY C. died three days after he was evicted from his room. Unlike most guests who come every day, Danny would come on Mondays for our pizzas. Every guests got two slices, but when no one was looking, I would slip Danny a third slice. DWIGHT died from an accident at work. When there was construction work, Dwight would have some of the other guests work with him. Dwight also had his signature green cap. One day, the cap was looking particularly forlorn and I offered him a navy cap. The very next day, Dwight came in with his green cap all cleaned. Before his brain injury, DAVID enjoyed mountain climbing. After his accident, David would have difficulties finding words. Even so, he would thank me for everything I would do for him or for other guests. He died suddenly from a stroke. I met DANNY B. when he was completing community services with us. The good ones would be hard working and would leave us. Danny was one of the good ones. From time to time, he would return to have lunch at the Center. They are missed.
