YES OR YES???? IF PATRICK SAWYER WAS A MUSLIM! By Ogbonnia Nwachi You remember him? He is the Liberian ebola patient, through whom the infamous ebola virus was exported from Liberia into Nigeria. He is now dead and Nigerians live in palpable fear because of the danger posed by this dreaded virus. Sawyer, the man through whom the export was accomplished, was not an adherent of Islam and Muslims are lucky. They are lucky because Sawyer would have created several problems, including Suya problems for them. For instance, if Sawyer was a Muslim, Nigerian Muslims would have gotten another stigma on their already congested neck; the stigma of another form of terrorism called Ebola would have been added to their list of sins against humanity. So many interpretations like this is a terrorist strategy by Muslims to kill non-Muslims and Islamise Nigeria. If they could carryout suicide bombings, they can do anything, would have become the norm. Facebook and other media fora would have been awash with curses on Muslims and Islam with some folks suggesting the creation of a colony for all Muslims like lepers, and vicious propaganda against buying suya from aboki because of Sawyer, not even ebola, would have rented the air. Sawyer was not a Muslim and ebola is perceived from the prism of a virus infection, not terrorism. Nobody is abusing Muslims, nobody is cursing Muslims and nobody is insulting Muslims. This would have also been the greatest opportunity for some folks to be vindicated on how Muslims eat bats and Monkeys, and how dirty and smelly they are, but unfortunately to these folks, Sawyer was not a Muslim
