YES! Very worthwhile read! While I dont claim to be un-busy, or sometimes succumbing to the need to stay busy i have DEFINITELY made conscious decisions in recent years to create time for just BEING. Sadly, i catch a LOT of flack for this when people say Oh you went to yoga? oh you went shopping today? oh you went for a run? must be NICE! Yes. it is very nice and its a choice ive made to step away from the treadmill of the norm and carve a path that will help improve other lives by creating present moments for clients, family or friends, while also making me a more balanced individual. I choose a flexible work schedule and less income in my path so that I can BE HUMAN! The very act of creating this small business, is an effort to connect people with their own time, their own BEING! When I first started the business I took on every workshop, client, class, and contract I could...and I got busy. I also got unhappy. I have since re-evaluated and I have made a point in the last 3yrs to carve out time in every SINGLE day to take space for me once or more per day either on my mat, working out, or just treating myself to something could be 10-90 minutes but its MY TIME! My time is as valuable as anyones and im a better person for taking that time for me. This approach has greatly improved my overall happiness. Even in this nutty time of year, my husband and I just reflected on the fact that this is the most pleasant holiday season weve had to date in terms of low key, downtime and togetherness (even despite a rather horrid decorating day experience that will forever go down in the annals of family history as the battle of 2014). The reason? we are consciously choosing our social outings rather than saying yes to everything AND our son isnt playing basketball 4nights per wk and once a wknd, freeing us up for lots of family time AND time together as a couple. We are getting stuff done while peppering in time to sit and take in the holiday spirit. Also, my husband has reached a point in his career where he can be more selective about travel and also more flexible with his schedule because he can work remotely and make time to take the kids to school, head to coffee with me or meet up for lunch. We are becoming more present as a family and to recognize it even at this time of year, is a step toward wholeness. onbeing.org/blog/the-disease-of-being-busy/7023#.VGAsWQ95FHI.facebook
